ROM BIOS

BIOS is an acronyn for Basic Input Output Software.
This software is stored on a ROM chip located on the motherboard of computers.

When a computer is turned on, the BIOS executes a task called "POST"(Power On Self Test) Which makes sure all necessary Hardwares e.g keyboard, hard disk est. are intact and functioning. Once this is done it then hands over to the Operating System on the computer. Hardwares are detected and Configured by the BIOS, the BIOS is also used to set boot order amongst other functions.
